John Ryder's
Production Ranger EV

September 19, 2008

Om the return from Fort Myers, we stopped to visit John Ryder in Punta Gorda. Gary Francis, who is interested in acquiring a Production Ford Ranger Flew down from Winter Haven to join us.

John Designed a circuit board with a voltage divider and rewired the harness in the battery box to allow the Battery Monitoring System to Monitor 12 volt batteries instead of the original 8 volt batteries. He uses 26 Northstar 12 volt AGM batteries in place of the original 39 - 8 volt VRLA batteries.

John and I had a chance to take a ride in EPT2 while we were there, John did the drivinig.

October 16th: Gary and I had a chance to fly down together, in Gary's plane, to Punta Gorda to see Johns Production Ranger EV, in action, on the road. Thanks to John, we each had the pleasure of driving this landmark vehicle in the modern history of EV progress.

This production vehicle usess lead acid battery technology to great advantage, proving that although technologies are available with higher energy density, a useful vehicle can be produced with this mature technology.
